The 2013 holiday season taught us many lessons. We learned, among other things, that despite a weak Halloween season, a government shutdown, and an early holiday shopping season as well as trend-breaking lower Thanksgiving sales that not all was lost. Overall holidays sales were still up, though the experts cautioned it may have cost retailers something in margin.

Getting a jump on next year’s marketing efforts in the retail industry, the folks at Blueocean Market Intelligence analyzed the online data from the country’s top 100 retailers for the last third of 2013 and pulled together a set of social media predictions for 2014 in this Chain Store Age piece.
